2021 Australian of the Year Awards Queensland Recipients

The Queensland recipients for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards have been announced.

Congratulations to all, and especially Aunty McRose Elu, Advocate for Torres Strait communities and climate change, who is Senior Australian of the Year.

The Queensland recipients for the 2021 Australian of the Year Awards are:

  • Australian of the Year:    Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM – Advocate for doctors with disabilities
  • Senior Australian of the Year:  Aunty McRose Elu – Advocate for Torres Strait communities and climate change
  • Young Australian of the Year:  Daniel and William Clarke – Conservationists for the endangered orangutan
  • Australia’s Local Hero:  Natasha Johnston – Founder and Director of Drought Angels

These recipients will represent Queensland at the national awards ceremony held in Canberra on Monday 25 January, the eve of Australia Day 2021.

The Awards acknowledge inspiring individuals whose accomplishments and contributions are continuing to make a positive different to communities, the state and our nation.

The Australian of the Year Awards is a program of the National Australia Day Council, managed in Queensland by the Queensland Government.
